Our committee is made up of nine members, and one of our members is a Trustee representative for the Board of the Rainbow School.  The Trustees are charged with maintaining the church buildings and all surrounding property and keeping adequate insurance.  We also maintain a list of future capital projects and costs and provide information to the Finance committee and Church Council.  We oversee the maintenance of the various areas of the church.

Examples of routine maintenance activities include: heating/cooling systems, room repairs, lawn mowing, trimming, snow removal, and janitorial service.

Examples of current and recent capital projects are roof replacement and replacing the flooring in the sanctuary and hallways.

WORSHIP TEAM

The Worship Team is made up of parishioners, pastors, the music staff, and others who have responsibility for worship events.  This team works with the pastors to discuss parts of the worship service, and helps to plan special services, for example, summer worship and lent, as they occur during the liturgical year.  The Worship team strives to add new dimensions and flexibility to our services to aid in worshiping God with prayers, presence, gifts and service.

EDUCATION

Meets: 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in the Lounge.

Chair:  Judy Ryan

At Fridley UMC, we believe in lifelong learning about our faith, the Bible, and how to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our time. The Education team provides opportunities for children, youth, adults and families to gather to learn together and to support each other in our faith journey.

Why learn?  Learning helps to make meaning of our lives in the light of our faith and to reaffirm that we are loved by each other and by God.  This gives us renewed strength to live our daily lives, and helps us reach in to care for each other and reach out beyond ourselves to serve others.

MISSION

Meets: 1st Tuesday of every other month at 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

Chairs:  Diane Jachymowski, Pat Brown

This committee’s purpose is to select a “Mission of the Month”.  The missions we select are local, national and international in scope, and a few are repeated each year.

For the remaining months, mission suggestions are solicited from committee members who also take responsibility for publicizing the mission in: our Growing Edge newsletter, the Community Life pages distributed at each church service, or an announcement in the church service itself.  Occasionally, an outside speaker provides a short presentation during the church service and sometimes during the coffee/fellowship time.

TECHNOLOGY TEAM

Technology Committee

Chair:  Brian Colvin

Meets:  As needed at the church

Our committee makes recommendations and maintains the technology needs for the church.  We maintain the Fridley UMC church website that provides information about worship and other events at the church.  We also maintain and update the sound system in the sanctuary and the technology needs of the church office staff.

We are always looking for people to help with the sound booth on Sunday mornings, so if you have an interest, please contact our chair as this is a fun way to get involved at Fridley UMC.
